LGBTQIA+ Rights: A Fundamental Pillar of Human Rights

by SHAVA CO on August 11, 2023

Human rights are the cornerstone of a just and equitable society, ensuring that every individual is treated with dignity, respect, and fairness.  The unequivocal acknowledgment that LGBTQIA+ rights are human rights. A collective effort is being made to affirm the inherent worth and equality of every person, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or mode of expression, which is the goal of the fight for LGBTQIA rights. We must vehemently support LGBTQIA rights to uphold the idea of human rights.

Dignity and Equality

The fight for equality and human dignity is at the core of the LGBTQIA+ rights movement. Every person has a right to respectful treatment and the protection of their fundamental human rights. It is against the very nature of human dignity to deprive LGBTQIA+, people of their rights, subject them to discrimination, or treat them like second-class citizens.

One of the guiding principles of human rights is equality before the law and in society at large. LGBTQIA+ people should be granted the same legal protection as everyone else, including the freedom from discrimination in public spaces, employment, housing, and adoption. When we recognize LGBTQIA+ rights as human rights, we accept the idea that everyone should be treated fairly and with the same respect that any other human being deserves, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Freedom from Discrimination

Due to their sexual orientation or gender identity, LGBTQIA+ people have long faced discrimination and violence. A clear violation of someone’s human rights occurs when they are denied opportunities or are subjected to unfair treatment because they identify as LGBTQIA+. A fundamental principle that must be applied to every person, regardless of identity, is the right to be free from discrimination.

By advocating for LGBTQIA rights, we work to create a culture where people are valued for their character, skills, and contributions rather than for who they love or how they identify. In addition to upholding the human rights of LGBTQIA+ people, combating discrimination and fostering inclusive environments for them enrich our society by valuing the variety of human experiences and viewpoints.

Freedom of Expression and Identity

One of the most important aspects of human rights is the freedom of expression and identity. Every person should be free to express who they truly are without worrying about punishment or prejudice. This includes the freedom to openly identify as LGBTQIA+ without fear of discrimination or negative social consequences.

It is crucial to respect each person’s choice of pronouns and gender identity. It acknowledges their autonomy and gives credence to their personal experiences. Additionally, allowing people to freely express an accepting and sympathetic society in which everyone feels free to be themselves.

Conclusion

Human rights include LGBTQIA+ rights, and it is everyone’s duty to fight for these rights. It represents a dedication to justice, equality, and the fundamental idea that every person deserves the same opportunities and rights as everyone else, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression. By championing LGBTQIA+ rights as human rights, we not only create a just and equitable society for LGBTQIA+ people but also reaffirm our dedication to the values of dignity, equality, and freedom for all.

Together, let us take a strong stance in favor of LGBTQIA+ rights, acknowledging that they are an integral component of the larger human rights framework. By doing this, we get one step closer to realizing the promise of human rights for all people, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity- a world where everyone can live, love, and thrive without fear, prejudice, or discrimination.
